Calendar year 2018 saw third launch ceremony saw the unveiling of Rs 100 commemorative coins at Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This is the 4th Ocassion in the year of Death on Prime Minister since coins were issued; Jawharlal Nehru was previously released in 1964, Indira Gandhi in 1985, and Rajeev Gandhi in 1991.

There is only Rs100/-non-circulating denomination in this issue and there is no circulating denomination.

Although there were few issues such as 150 Years of Telecommunications, Gur Ta Gaddi, etc. where circulating denominations were not brought into general circulation but were notified and available in Mint Sets. It seems that Governmnet is moving away from issuing commemorative coins in circulating denominations, Shri Guru Gobind Singh's recent gazette notifications, 75 years of Tricolour in Andamans, and Paika Rebellion before Vajpayee's publication.
