This large-sized 1000 Francs banknote from Burundi was issued by the Bank of the Republic of Burundi between 1994 and 2006. It is part of the 1993 series and remains a classic representation of Burundi’s economic history and cultural symbols.
Obverse:
The front of the note features cattle (Bos taurus) on the left and the coat of arms of Burundi at the center. Printed in black ink with multicolour underprint, the note includes French and Kirundi text. The date "01-07-2000" and signatures of the Governor and First Vice-Governor are also present.
Reverse:
The reverse side displays the Unity Monument located in Bujumbura at the center, with a zebu (Bos taurus) head at the lower right. Green print with multicolour underprint. The anti-counterfeiting warning is printed in both French and Kirundi.
