South Africa 200 Rand Banknote
The South African Reserve Bank issued South African Rand banknotes in 9 different denominations, including this 200 South African Rand banknote (Leopard type 1994). They are part of the withdrawn South African Rand banknotes series. The South African Reserve Bank started issuing these 200 South African Rand banknotes in 1994. They were withdrawn from circulation in 2012.
These R200 banknotes were withdrawn from circulation in 2010 as a result of a significant number of convincing counterfeits in use at that time. They have a similar design as the 200 rand banknote issued in 2005, with leopards on the obverse (front), and a bridge and large antenna on the reverse. However, this 1999 note of 200 South African Rand can be easily distinguished by the absence of the South African coat of arms in the top left corner of the side with the leopard’s head.
