Discovery of Diamonds in Namibia – Diamond shaped MS
Namibia issued a beautiful Diamond shaped miniature sheet with four stamps on Diamonds to commemorate Centenary of Discovery of Diamonds in Namibia (1908- 2008).
The Fluvial diamonds were washed down the Orange river and deposited along Namibian coast millions of years ago.
The four stamps depict the following
N$ 2.00 – Land Mining
N$ 2.00 – Marine Mining
N$ 2.00 – Uncut Diamonds
N$ 2.00 – Diamond Jewellery
The miniature sheet also depicts the Bogenfeld Arch which is a rock formation on the atlantic coast line of the Namib desert. It is situated about 100 kilometres in the south of Lüderitz and is a natural sea-arch formed by the action of waves.
