The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) proudly commemorates its 75th anniversary with a special banknote, celebrating 75 years of central banking in independent Pakistan. This milestone pays tribute to the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who inaugurated the SBP on July 1, 1948, and played a crucial role in the country's independence.

On the front side of the banknote, Quaid-e-Azam's portrait is placed as a testament to his relentless efforts in achieving Pakistan's independence. Despite being unwell and advised to rest, he attended the SBP's inauguration ceremony, delivering a historic speech to mark this significant economic milestone.

The banknote also showcases the stunning head office building of the SBP, located in Karachi, through the calligraphic brilliance of Syed Sadequain Ahmed Naqvi, one of Pakistan's great calligraphists and painters. Sadequain's artistic rendition of the head office building, created with repeated use of the words "Bank Daulat-e-Pakistan" in Arabic/Urdu calligraphic script, represents one of his many works of art for the Bank during his time as the official painter.

In the spirit of gender equality, the banknote features the portrait of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, a prominent female icon of Pakistan. Her significant role during the country's independence and as a strong political force in independent Pakistan makes her a symbol of women's empowerment and gender equality.

The banknote's sub-theme, "Banking of Equality," reflects SBP's commitment to embrace a gender intentional approach, enhancing banking services for women. The policy outlines various actions targeting institutional readiness, product diversification, customer acquisition, and data collection to prioritize gender focus in SBP's policies.

Promoting sustainability, the reverse side of the banknote displays motifs of wind turbines and solar panels, emphasizing Pakistan's commitment to renewable and green energy sources.

The remarkable design of the banknote, including its color scheme, portraits, vignettes, and public service message, was meticulously crafted by the internal Banknote committee at SBP, with final integration by banknote designers at CCL Secure and Koenig and Bauer (K & B). It was approved by the Federal Government on the recommendations of the SBP Board, adhering to the requirements of the SBP Act 1956.

This banknote stands as a tribute to 75 years of central banking in Pakistan, showcasing the nation's progress, dedication to sustainability, and commitment to gender equality, all while commemorating the historic role of the SBP in the country's economic journey.
